A glass pavilion on the edge of a natural pond, remote from the main residence, provides a place from which to experience a wedding within a luxurious landscape of this rural property.
Two rectangular prisms divided by an exterior court, clad in glass and stone, form a small structure. The enclosed stone clad core contains a public restrooms, kitchen area, bridal suite, office and grooms suite. A composite steel and concrete slab volume, with glass walls and ephemeral curtains, intersects this apparently solid mass. Two glass “rooms” orientated to the pond, each with services and storage as a solid “back” wall.
Materials have been selected and designed to balance the hierarchy between the architecture and the natural landscape. Minimal solidity and elegant spaciousness are positioned to allow function to perform.
