The overall forms “play” together like a game, formed by the juxtaposition and superposition of simple pieces: shifting, sliding and overlapping one another. As a nod to the existing arched structure, this scheme features a decorative wall plane that overlaps and accentuates the existing arch.
The introduction of clean glass forms infuses Modernism into the gymnasium. These glass-laterns contrast the existing gymnasium structure while gathering, diffusing, and refracting light into new spaces.
The existing arch is enhanced by the introduction of color. Vertical steel tubes feature a subtle color spectrum, adding visual interest and providing identity for the gymnasium to the larger community.
